The Regional Centre of Institute of Bioresources and Sustainable Development (RCIBSD) is established under the aegis of Department of Biotechnology, Government of India in order to utilize the rich bioresources including plants, animals and microbial resources of the Sikkim Himalayas through scientific interventions for economic benefit of the region. The following technical positions are available under the research program of RCIBSD, Department of Biotechnology, Govt. of India. Dully filled in application on prescribed format available at the Institute’s website (www.ibsd.gov.in) and at the office of RCIBSD, Gangtok may be submitted along with attested copies of certificate/testimonials in support of age and educational qualifications with a passport size photograph to The Officer on Special Duty, Regional Centre of IBSD, NH 31A, Tadong, Gangtok- 737102 during Office hour on or before 5th May, 2011.

Candidates must superscript “Application for the Senior Technical Assistant” The short listed candidates will be intimated for interview. The selection procedure will be strictly adhered to Govt. of India norms.

Qualifications  :
Essential  :
B.Sc. in Microbiology / Biotechnology or Agriculture with specialization in Microbiology or plant pathology
Desirable  : 1. First class Master degree in relevant subjects
2. Experience in Microbiological analysis including media preparation/ biochemical analysis
3. Knowledge of Computer Application
Nature of Duty  : 1. Survey and collection of specimen
2. Isolation and counting of bacteria/ fungi
3.Biofertilizer/Biopesticide application in field
4.Handling lab equipments related to microbiology and molecular biology
Age limit : 30 yrs

Qualifications  :
Essential  :
B.Sc. Botany / Biotechnology or B. Sc Agriculture with specialization in Plant Biotechnology
Desirable  : 1. First class M.Sc (Botany/ Biotechnology/ Agriculture)
2. Preference will be given to candidates having experience on plant tissue culture and phytochemistry.
Nature of Duty  : 1. Survey and collection of plant species.
2. Plant Tissue Culture techniques, phytochemical extractions
3. Handling lab equipments related to Plant Tissue Culture / Molecular Biology.
Age limit : 30 yrs

The above positions are purely on temporary basis. The selected candidates should not claim for regular appointment either to IBSD, RCIBSD, Sikkim or DBT, New Delhi. No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview. The age of the candidates should not exceed 30 years as on 5th May, 2011. The competent authority reserves all right to cancel the appointment at any stage without specifying any reason. The Institute reserves the right to engage any person for any position, if found suitable, even if he/she has not applied for the position.
